We know that many of our readers are Americans, living in France, who requested additional time to file their 2025 federal tax returns. This is a gentle reminder that Thursday 15th October is the last day for filing.
The last few years have seen a big spike in Americans buying French property and we know that there is a lot of admin to get your heads around. This is why we have run webinars dedicated to our clients and friends across the pond.
As American citizens living abroad their tax returns were due on June 15th, but it was possible to extend this to 15th October – an option that many will have taken up. Now though time is up and federal tax returns need to be submitted. Similarly, you must submit your Report of Foreign Bank & Financial Accounts (FBAR), although this is filed electronically with FinCEN rather than with the IRS.
