Scottish buyers thirsty for French property
Last month the Leggett team headed 700 miles north to A Place in the Sun’s first property show in Glasgow and we had a great response from Scottish buyers keen to buy in France. 4,188 visitors headed to the SECC Glasgow for a busy two-day show.
We found a great appetite for the warmer climes of France – there are nearly double the average number of hours of sunshine a year in Bordeaux than Glasgow. We found visitors’ interest especially focused around the areas served by flights from Scotland – Nice, Bordeaux and Paris that link into the Loire, Brittany, Normandy, the south-west and Cote D’Azur.
Our chairman Trevor Leggett, who fielded questions at the show, said: “There was a strong love of France and pro-EU sentiment at the show with many people looking to buy a slice of France before Brexit goes through. People were very keen to be well informed on issues relating to tax, mortgages and the buying process.”
