The good news for all of you dreaming of moving to France is that the French healthcare is amongst the best in the world.  Although it might work slightly differently to the healthcare system that you are used to, it is easy to navigate once you understand it – and we some useful advice!

All French residents have access to the state healthcare system but the state doesn’t always pay all the costs of any medical treatment. The level of reimbursement depends on your status and situation. This is where forward planning comes in. The first thing that will be taken into account is whether you have paid into the system in any way. So the first crucial question is, where are you deemed resident? The answer to this question and other details about your status will determine that you are entitled to.
