Move over home staging, it’s now all about garden staging

You’ve probably heard about all the styling tricks to help make a good impression when people view your home – the fresh flowers, scented candles, etc. But the front garden is the very first view, the so-called ‘kerb appeal’.

Should you pay more attention to your home’s garden? And not just the garden, but perhaps its terrace, yard, or balcony. You can add value to a property by investing in these areas, or just make them appear more of a selling point.

Old townhouse with private terrace in Antibes – €1,590,000

First up, make sure the areas are neat and tidy. Should you jet-wash the terrace?  Maybe the hedge needs a trim and the weeds removed.

Greenery is good for mental health and also softens the look of a terrace or yard. Adding a little greenery, and some fragrant herbs in pots, can really work wonders rather than seeing a bare patio. It can also be relatively inexpensive, compared to buying cushions or cut flowers.

Stone house with independent studio, pool, and garden in Charente – €265,000

It really operates in the same way that styling the interior does; getting the buyer to imagine themselves relaxing on the terrace, enjoying an aperitif, or al fresco dining.

Unique apartment with roof terrace in Nice – €445,000

Add the chairs, and the scented jasmine transport them to memorable summer holidays – to inspire the possibilities of outdoor entertaining!
