Normandy: D-Day and many other reasons to celebrate the region

Earlier this month we saw the emotional celebrations marking the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings in Normandy. It is part of a series of events to mark this historic event, yet the beaches of the French coast remain a major tourist attraction every single year.

Historic links and proximity to the UK make Normandy a popular place for the British to buy a holiday home – most of the region is within an hour of one of the three major ferry ports of Caen, Le Havre and Cherbourg – and accessibility from Paris attracts many French buyers too.
