The Food Trail, episode 4
Last week we were in Southern France for the main course, now we’re heading to Poitou-Charentes for the “fromage”…
So on to the cheese and salad course … the French claim the salad refreshes your mouth at this stage of the meal!
But where do you start with the choice here – for there are literally more French cheeses than days of the year – it’s said there could be up to 1,000 varietals.
Perhaps a small sampling of chèvre – goats cheese – might hit the spot with our repas? In the Poitou-Charentes there is even a route de chabichou where farmers and producers of this luscious cheese provide opportunities to sample and find your favourite!
Not quite full? Next week we will be ending our journey in Agen for a nice, seasonal dessert!
