The good news is that with 23 new lifts opening up across the French Alps this winter, resorts are continually investing and improving their infrastructure and just as importantly their pistes. A quick roundup of the season’s most exciting new lifts….
Let’s kick off with a real game changer for Courchevel Le Praz, a facelift being provided by The Alpinium featuring 500 covered parking places, a lift pass office and new ski lockers. In under 6 minutes the new 10-seater gondola provides access to the centre of Courchevel 1850. The lift will also operate outside normal ski lift hours making the attractions of 1850 accessible to Le Praz. Only 25 minutes from Moûtiers, Courchevel Le Praz is now the closest and quickest access point for a day trip to the 3 Valleys. It’s fantastic news and a great time to buy in Courchevel Le Praz!
Renovation of the Funiculaire Les Arcs Express has been completed replacing the Arc en Ciel as your quickest lift up the mountain from Moutiers into Arc1600. Also in les Arcs, the small and aging Comborciere lift has been replaced with a modern four-seat chairlift which promises to reduce by half the time it took to get up the mountain and gives access to a brand new red run. Great for easy access from your Moutiers base in to the massive Paradiski area

In the Portes du Soleil area, three new 6 person high speed lifts open this season, improving its ski area and strengthen the lifts connecting the resorts. Avoriaz will open a third connection between its ski area and the Swiss resort of Champéry – Les Crosets. The Portes du Soleil ski area is an immense winter playground composed of 12 resorts with 650 km of linked runs in France and Switzerland.
Big investments in Les Deux Alpes with the opening of the Pierre Grosse eight-seater gondola offering a new route to the glacier from the La Fée sector. The new lift has a capacity of 2400 skiers per hour. In the Crêtes area, a new high-speed eight-seater chairlift will be a welcome improvement to the lift. System.
And in the Les Saisies area of the Espace Diamant, the new Légette lift; a 6 person high speed chair getting a special mention due to it’s nearly perfect name.
