At the heart of the ‘Queen of the Pyrénées’

The elegant spa town of Bagnères-de-Luchon is surrounded by the wonderful scenery of the Pyrénées.  Known as Luchon to its inhabitants (and indeed throughout France as a famed regular stop on the Tour de France), this elegant spa town echoes with the beauty of the Belle Époque with perfectly restored 19th century grand houses gracing the sides of its main tree-lined boulevard, the Allée d’Itigny, the centre of this charming, bustling small town which is also known as the ‘Queen of the Pyrénées’!

Just 30 metres off this lovely street, tucked discreetly in the rue Lamartine, Le Patio de Luchon awaits its next visitors.  This charming chambre d’hôte currently belongs to Jean François Belhomme who waxes lyrical about the joys of living in this beautiful part of the world.

“We have the mountains surrounding us – wonderful in summer for hiking or cycling, while in winter the télécabine, five minutes’ walk from our chambre d’hôte, takes you to Superbagnères for skiing and the Spanish border is just 8 kms drive away!”

Jean François says, however, with everything on your doorstep, once you arrive you really won’t need your car again!  “The Allée is lined with restaurants and cafés, the spa is five minutes’ walk, there’s the casino and many other activities to keep you happy while you stay!”

The welcome to this delightful B&B is evident from the moment you step across its threshold – a very large living-dining room with exposed stone walls cossets its guests, patio doors open to an outside terrace where they can relax and discuss the day’s activities and plan for tomorrow.  There’s also a superb professional kitchen adjoining the light and airy breakfast room, fully equipped laundry and a cellar ideal for storage and to keep wine.

Totally renovated in 2013, it offers guests every comfort in the five, individually decorated en suite letting bedrooms which are accessed from two separate staircases.  The owners’ accommodation is no less comfortable with two more en suite bedrooms – there’s also the joy of the small private roof garden, the precinct of the owner, providing a lovely outlook from guest bedroom windows!

Le Patio de Luchon provides, Jean Francois, says, the ideal lifestyle: “even when we are full, we are usually free by midday to spend the day as we wish.  I love to cycle, ski and hike and there’s the opportunity for all that here.  For a couple, this property is very easy to manage and as our guests have secure digi code access once they’re staying, the day is our own!”

And with two peak seasons – summer and winter – guests come from every part of the world “we meet many interesting people from as far away as Argentina, Africa, China, Israel and Australia!  Then there are many French who come from nearby, Toulouse perhaps, to escape the city for a few days’ tranquil rest in Luchon!  We have achieved an excellent reputation and we get many returning guests!”

Everything has been thought of, Le Patio comes fully equipped for its next owner down to the sheets and towels – it would be possible to take possession here in the morning and welcome your first guests in the afternoon in a turn key operation!  And there are many bookings already for the months to come – providing assured income from Day One! Find out more about this property here.
