Earlier this month, Leggett had a great weekend supporting Jaz Taylor of the GB Telemark team in an international pre-World competition race event.
For those of us who knew little about Telemark skiing, it was a fabulous experience – the race in Les Houches was a combination of downhill skiing, jumping and cross country skating with the heel free from the ski. It’s really the ‘triathlon’ of skiing, a bit of an extra challenge for skiers who seek a little more edge! Or as the head of GB Telemark, Adrian Pery, suggests, ‘free the heel, free the mind!’ World Championships take place every year now, and according to Pery, the top four Telemark nations are Switzerland, France, Norway, and Germany, with GB and Slovenia jockeying for the fifth spot. The sport hopes to be included in the Winter Olympics at some point.
We, at Leggett, hope by supporting the GB Telemark team since 2018, to help this happen. Apart from Jasmin Taylor’s high ranking in the sport, Louis Hatchwell is amongst many promising young stars. Jasmin Taylor is GB’s most successful ever skier, living between Ipswich and Chamonix, and only started skiing when she was 12. Since this event, she has won a podium position at the World Cup event in Pralognan this week with a new British record. We say, Go Jasmin!
